From Sailor to CEO
In 2018, while still serving in the Navy, I took a leap and landed my first freelance writing gig. That small step opened a world of possibilities. By 2020, I officially launched my business—Denesha Smith – Magical Ink LLC—while juggling military life.
But when I transferred to Belgium in 2020, I had to put my dream on pause. It was devastating. Still, I used that time to grow personally and professionally, earning my Master’s in Executive Leadership and reimagining what Magical Ink could become.
In 2024, I reopened the business and slowly began taking on work again. Now, in 2025, I’ve retired from the Navy and launched this dream full-time. And I’ve never been more excited.
