It’s been a while since I last shared an update, and I wanted to take a moment to reconnect, reflect on my journey, and share some exciting news about my freelance business. Life has been full of changes, challenges, and growth, and now, I’m stepping into a new chapter—both personally and professionally.
Why I Took a Hiatus
Over the past several months, I’ve been focusing on my health, personal growth, and reassessing my business goals. I decided to step back from freelancing to make sure that when I returned, I would be fully aligned with the kind of work I wanted to do and the impact I want to make. This time away allowed me to reset, recharge, and refocus my vision for my business. Now, I’m back-motivated more than ever!
Lessons From This Time Away
Taking a step back taught me a few important lessons:
- Prioritizing wellness leads to long-term success. Burnout doesn’t serve anyone. I’ve learned the importance of balancing work, self-care, and personal growth.
- It’s okay to pivot. Growth means allowing yourself to evolve and explore new opportunities.
- Clarity fuels confidence. Stepping back gave me a fresh perspective on the services I want to offer, and the clients I want to serve.

As I relaunch Denesha Smith -Magical Ink, I’m excited to introduce a new service—book reviewing! Whether you’re an author looking for an in-depth critique or a publisher needing honest, thoughtful reviews, I now offer book reviews tailored to help you to promote and refine your work.
In addition to book reviews, I will continue to offer:
